New Graduates from High School / Transferees / Graduates of other courses:

1. Must have the general average of 85% in high school as evidenced by the original report card (Form 138).
2. Must have a general average of at least 2.0 or its equivalent grade for transferees / graduates of other courses as evidenced by an original copy of transcript of records.
3. Must have passed the Mental Ability Test with a cut-off score of 30 points.
4. Must take the English College Entrance Test with a cut-off score of 34 points. (A score 34 points and above shall proceed to English 101, whereas 33 points and below must take English 100).
5. Good Moral character certification by HS Principal / Guidance Counselor.
6. Copy of NSO – authenticated Live Birth Certificate
7. Copy of Marriage License (if married)
8. Must be physically and mentally fit

­    *   Must have the Nursing Aptitude Test with a raw score of 95   points and above to be given Second Semester of the Second Year.

­     *  Must submit recent original result of the following diagnostic test: Chest X-Ray, Hepatitis b screening test, complete Blood Count, Fecalysis and Urinalysis to the School Physician for evaluation. (The mentioned diagnostics test be conducted at Capiz Emmanuel Hospital, the affiliate hospital of the College). Request form must be obtained from the School Clinic only.

­     *  Applicant with physical defects should undergo further screening and evaluation; however, the College of Nursing has the right to refuse admission.

­      * A married applicant will be accepted provided he/she must conform to the following requirements:

* (a)     Submit a certified photo copy of the marriage contract.

* (b)     Should not get pregnant during the entire study, if possible. Waiver must be signed by both husband and wife. However, in case she gets pregnant, she will be advised to be on leave for one (1) year and she may continue the following year after her delivery.

            What are the qualities that would make a good college teacher? The answer to this question can be based on a study made by Odom. In his study, there exist certain valid criteria for distinguishing good college instructors. Odom found the twelve traits of good teaching:

1.       Knowledge of the subject matter- scholarship

2.       Know how to teach- good delivery

3.       Pleasing personality

4.       Justice- fairness- impartiality

5.       Interest in the student’s view point

6.       High moral character

7.       Neatness, appearance

8.       Patience

9.        High intelligence

10.   Broadmindedness, Tolerance

11.   Sense of humor

12.   Sociability, social ease

Odom goes on to say that there was similarity of attitude between teacher and student groups in subscription to these twelve traits. Odom’s Conclusions almost coincides, too, with the findings of the committee of the American Association of Colleges for Teachers Education which are:

1.       Inspire students to think for themselves and to express their own ideas sincerely.

2.       Is emotionally stable and mature.

3.       Organizes materials and prepares carefully for each meeting with the class.

4.       Is friendly, democratic, tolerant and helpful in his relations with the students.

5.       Understands the problems most often met by students in college and in their work.

6.       Takes broad (rather than department) views of educational problems.

7.       Leads students to take responsibility for planning and checking own progress.

8.       Has infectious enthusiasm for teaching that inspire student to want to teach.

9.       His behavior reflects high ideals.

10.    Shows active interest in continued professional study.

11.   Regards himself primarily as a college teacher (rather than a subject matter specialist.)

12.   Has demonstrated skill in method of instruction appropriate to his field.

13.   Has successfully taught his subject in college.

14.   Academic record in his special field is unusually high.

15.   Has genial personality and sense of humor.

We can, therefore, conclude from these two studies that personality and character have a lot to do with teaching, and that some of these attitudes so necessary in a good teacher cannot be determined from a mere holding of a graduate degree.

a)      A student is given by  CHED  one year to complete an “inc” grade.

b)      The Dean and / or Department chairperson will be furnished by the Registrar’s Office with the list of students with “incomplete” grades, who have been issued transfer credentials. The names of the teachers concerned will be included in this list.

c)      The Dean/Department chairperson notifies the teachers concerned that the students in the list cannot be allowed to complete work to “remove” their “incomplete grades,” in compliance with par. 2C circular 9, 2. 1963.

d)      If teachers are still correcting test papers at the time the student requests a transfer credential, the student will be asked to go to his/her dean who asks his/her teachers to certify whether or not the student may have to be given “inc.” grades.

e)      If one or more teachers indicate an “incomplete grade” for the student but the latter insists that he/she be issued a transfer credential his/her incomplete grade notwithstanding, item a and b above, will be followed. If no “incomplete” grade is indicated for the student, a T/R may be issued with the list of subjects, with or without grades. Another T/R may be issued later with all the grades in.

f)        A teacher should prepare as many copies of the Completion Report as there are colleges represented in the completion list unless he/she prefers to prepare a completion report for each college concerned. (If all deans concerned get copies, teachers are not likely to prepare completion grade for a student more than once. This is one explanation given for the fact that the Registrar’s Office gets more than one completion grade for a student. In a few cases, there were discrepancies in the grades given to a student.)

g)      Some teachers are forced to give failing students “Inc.” because these students do not take the final exam whereas students who may have done slightly better work are given 5.0 outright because they take the final test and fail it.

            To preclude this irregularity, the VP-AA Office should have prepared forms to be used by teachers to remind students to take a scheduled special exam. The reminders inform the student that he/she will be given 5.0 if by the middle of the term following the term of enrollment he/she will not have taken the specially schedule final exams.

h)      To inform students and their deans of “inc” grades, each faculty member will make a list of students (in each of his/her subjects NOT classes) who obtained a grade of “Inc.” and make as many copies of this list as there are colleges represented in a list. Each dean posts all the list received by his/her unit on his /her college bulletin boards, for the information of all.

            So, students must consult their dean’s bulletin boards a few days after final exam time and must contact the teachers concerned, regarding completion requirements. The “Inc.” grades not removed within the one-year  grace period as well as those entered in official transcripts of records (Valid for transfer) cannot be removed.

i)        Teachers submit a list of “Inc.” to deans before the enrollment period.

We are the Library students Assistant

LSA assigned in office, technical and internet section, together with our mentors.

Filamer Christian College, Library student assistants are working students who are assigned in the College Library. We are the members of the Work Study Program organization where in we study and work at the same time. To be a working  student is not an easy task. Being a Library student assistant, you have to be a responsible and a hardworking person. Responsible in the sense that, you have to render your duty on-time. Be approachable to all students eventhough you are not in the mood. A hardworking in the sense that you have to bear in mind that you have to work hard to sustain your study.

       To be a FCC LSA is enjoyable! No matter what happen, i enjoyed being a Filamer christian college library student assistants.NUNCA TE OLVIDARE”

         Library is my second home. I acquire new friends here. i’ve learned to act as a proffessional. Library molded me to become a better person, at the same time. To be strong enough to face all the challenges that comes in my life . I know that, after my college years the things that I’ve learned here, i will apply that in my own field. I am thankful and blessed to have a supervisors that understands and give me a pieces of advice. Comes time that, we will apart from each other, and i never forget all those advices that you’ve impart to me. Those will be my guide to achieve all my plans and goals in life.
